Challenge #1: Sloping Backyard

It is often said that with the good we sometimes have to take the…well, not so good. When Michael and Dorothy bought their newly constructed home at the top of the Chesapeake Bay in North East, Maryland, they knew they had a really good thing―except, that is, for the steeply sloping hill out back that rendered the yard virtually useless, with a 30’ stretch at an 8’ to 10’ drop. 

Eager to create an outdoor space where they could relax and entertain, the homeowners contacted their EP Henry authorized contractor, Craig, of Rock Solid Hardscaping.

Together, they drew up a plan that gave these homeowners the outdoor living space of their dreams. With a budget of $44,225*—here’s how Craig put it all together:

• Approximately 180 face feet of Terrace Wall in Harvest Blend
• A 220 square foot patio made from Coventry® I pavers in Harvest Blend, random installation
• 3” and 6” Combo Coventry Wall column in Harvest Blend with DevonStone Tennyson® Brownstone detail
• Composite deck and railing Bluestone stepping stone walkway leading from the back patio to the front of the house
